Self-mutilation

I thought i'd cover a topic that is probably very much vulgarised amongst adolescence. And moreover because of a friend.

Harm - an apt word. Or more aptly, self-harm. Im pretty sure majority of us have had related encounters with friends/acquaintances or even more closely, on a personal level. Correct me if im wrong, but it definitely seemed like a phase when i was from 12 onwards.

Im no psychologist, but deliberately causing harm t oneself usually roots from th obvious and common reasons. For example, anxiety, depressions, disorders, stress, emotional numbness, failure and self-loathe. And therefore self-harm such as cutting works as a coping mechanism.

Th most common action of self-harm is definitely cutting. However, causing intentional harm of course branches out into burning, scratching, hitting/banging, hair pulling etc. And although substance abuse and eating disorders such as bulimia and anorexia brings about harm t th body, those are vaguely not classified under self-harm because it does not bring about intentional injuring of a body tissue, which is by far th definition of deliberate self-harm. And then we have th more severe ones such as scarring, amputation, castration, self-enucleation which is removal of th eye. Aside from listing a diverse view on self-harm so that its not narrowed down t a bias and one-sided affair, my main objective is t obviously write more on cutting as a way of self-harm.

Im not going into some serious PAP-rally talk bc its 5.30am in th fuckin' morning. But i just thought i'd finish this post where i last left off anyways. For one, i hate it when people make fun of someone who cuts. I mean yeah, it is definitely attention-seeking on a level but really, noone actually cuts for pure attention. Unless you're a fuckin' cunt licking attention whore. Whether  its superficial or otherwise, its just usually a platform t release what you're going through. And though its a phase for most, some actually carry on doing it even during adulthood.

We all have ways of dealing with our situations. We all come up with escapisms or numbness in which we need t feel smth instead. Unless you're one of those fuckers' who release angst with a blady stress ball. Not many people i know do that. And if you do, idc. What i care about is th fact that eventhough cutting isn't usually for suicidal intentions, its still self-harm. And if you're not going t comfort a person who cuts, then you should just pretty much stfu and not mock him/her either.
